Almacenes de contenedores y bases para cubos de basura

Una base firme y drenante para contenedores de basura que no se hunde, no huele y se puede limpiar con hidrolimpiadora.

Por qué es importante

Por qué el refuerzo es importante aquí

Bin stores sit on a small area that gets heavy point loads from full bins, constant wheeling in the same line and regular spillage. Slabs on sand rock and sink; bare ground turns to mud. A grid base drains spillage straight through and can be washed down rather than scrubbed.

Instalación

Cómo se instala

  1. Mark out the area and excavate to the depth of your sub-base plus the grid depth plus your infill blinding.
  2. Lay a woven geotextile across the formation, lapping joins by at least 300mm. This stops the sub-base and the subsoil mixing.
  3. Lay and compact the sub-base: 50mm MOT Type 1 domestic; 100-150mm for communal or trade waste compounds. Compact in layers rather than all at once.
  4. Blind the sub-base with a thin layer of grit sand and screed it level. This is what gives you a flat finished surface.
  5. Push-fit the grids together across the area, working from one edge. Cut around obstacles with a jigsaw or fine-tooth saw.
  6. Fill the cells: Angular 10mm gravel filled level and blinded so bin wheels do not catch. Work the fill in with a stiff brush so no cell is left hollow.
  7. Check the finished level. Nothing should stand proud of the cell walls, and no cell should be left under-filled.

Most installations are straightforward groundwork. The grids themselves push-fit together and need no fixings, adhesive or specialist tools.

Elección de un sistema

¿Qué profundidad de rejilla?

The 30mm heavy duty grid. Loaded bins are a surprisingly concentrated point load for the area involved, and the surface has to stay firm enough to wheel across.

If you are between two options, take the heavier duty one. The cost difference across a typical project is small next to the cost of lifting and relaying a surface that was under-specified.

Hágalo bien a la primera

El error que vemos con más frecuencia

Leaving the fill below the cell walls. Bin wheels then catch on every cell and the bins are a fight to move.

Preguntas frecuentes

Can bins be wheeled across it easily?

Yes, once the cells are filled level and blinded. Keep the fill flush so wheels do not catch on cell walls.

Can I jet wash it?

Yes. Water and detergent drain straight through rather than pooling, which is a real advantage over slabs.

How deep a sub-base for a communal store?

100mm to 150mm of compacted MOT Type 1 where a collection vehicle or a large number of bins are involved.

Will it hold odour?

Far less than bare ground or bedded slabs, because liquid drains away instead of soaking into a bedding layer.

Will it stop the bins blowing over?

No, that is what a store or a bin lock is for. It does stop them sinking and rocking, which is what makes them easy to move.

Can I run it up to a wall or fence?

Yes. Use an edge restraint against soft edges; a hard edge needs nothing.
